The City is an MTV reality television series and a spin-off of the MTV show The Hills. It documents the changing life and surroundings of Whitney Port as she moves to New York City to work for fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg.[1] The program premiered December 29, 2008.

Ratings
Monday's 10 p.m. premiere of MTV's new Hills spin-off, The City, averaged 1.6 million viewers, a significant drop-off from the season 4 finale of The Hills, which averaged 2.6 million at 10 p.m. the previous Monday.[2]
Synopsis
It is a whole new world for The Hills star Whitney Port, 23, as she packs up and moves from the comforts of her hometown in Los Angeles, California, to the bright lights and new comforts of New York City. With a new job as a Public Relations Director at global design house, Diane von Fürstenberg, a best friend from her past and a guy she's infatuated with, Port is taking a risk and an evolving life adjustment. In upcoming episodes, Kacey Sara and LeAnne will make cameos and shake things up in "The City" the girls are California natives and love New York garcons
