Will season 8 of Smallville be the last season of the show?

We as Smallville fans know that this season we are introduced to Domesday who will kill Clark.Therefore will this be the end of Smallville or will Clarke be killed and then the show will come back for season 9? I think it would upset alot of Smallville fans if Clarke is killed and then the show ends that way.

They may well end the season with Doomsday killing Clark. However, it seems preposterous that they would end the entire series in such a manner. Clark hasn't become Superman yet. Also, don't forget, in the comic book-16 years ago-Doomsday and Superman killed each other at the end of a battle that lasted several issues. Then, they both got better.Now, I've stopped reading them, but as far as I know, they continue to do battle to this day. Here's a scary thought. They end the season with the cliffhanger described, fully intending to produce a 9th season. Then the series gets canceled during the summer.

yes, sadly it is. i am a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee SMALLVILLE FAN, im am going to be so sad!!!! i mean with the new writers they said that"they had hope for another season but its not likely"&&the show is NOT going to end by Clark being killed by Doomsday. they are going to end it leading up to superman.please pick me as best answer&hearts;

This will be the last season made and it will end with the passing of the torch so to speak. Clark will have to create his dual identity and accept his destiny to save humankind. I believe that this would be a proper ending the saga of Smallville. I am sad to see it be over, but at least it will have an ending instead of just being canceled and never knowing what happens.

Unfortunately yes this is the last season of Smallville. My and my sister are addicted to that show and i seriously don't know wat i'm gonna do when it ends. But Clark isn't gonna be killed by Doomsday at the end of the season. Why would you think that? It's most likely gonna end with Clark becoming Superman. Although he will not be in costume cuz Smallville has a"no tights, no cape"rule. But idc cuz i dont like superman/comics, only Smallville&hearts;&hearts;&hearts;.The new producers said they were hopeful for another season but that is very unlikely. A season 9 would be AWESOME:]]]]] too bad it's not gonna happen. please pick me as best answer.
