Battlestar Galactica takes place in a far away part of the universe. A civilization of humans live on planets called the Twelve Colonies. The Colonies have been at war with a cybernetic race known as the Cylons for many years. With the help of the human, Baltar, the Cylons launch a quick ambush on the Colonies, destroying the planets and devastating their populations.
