Actually, if diagnostics was recognized as a medical specialty, it would certainly not be a desk job and would require daily contact with patients. But in real life, there is no such thing as a"diagnostician", this was made up for the show just like Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital. Still, almost all doctors are diagnosticians by nature. The correct diagnosis is obviously crucial in any medical specialty because the correct treatment cannot be administered without it!The doctors whose jobs are probably most like Dr. House's day-to-day are emergency physicians. Although the bulk of their cases are not nearly as interesting or rare as the ones on"House", making diagnoses is still a huge part of their job and they often save lives by making the right ones. Emergency medicine is actually one of the fastest-growing medical specialties now. It takes the same intense devotion to become an ER Physician as it does for almost any of the medical fields but if it's something you think you could be good at you should look into it because it is also very rewarding.Hope I helped!
