What is a major conflict that the characters of Gossip Girl face on the show?

Does anyone know what a conflict or problem would be for the characters on the show of Gossip Girl?? It doesn't have to be one certain episode..just all together, what is the problem. Thankss soo much is you could help!!

well for nate, he has the problem with his dad. he got in trouble for drugs, went to rehab, then got in more trouble for embezzlement and fraud. then his dad fled the country and is hiding in dominica and the government is harassing nate and his mom so they will rat him out. now their family's accounts have been frozen and they desperately need money. nate's"girlfriend"catherine the dutchess lends him money as long as he will keep sleeping with her. but once nate wants to end that, she blackmails him to keep their agreement by threatening to tell where his dad is hiding. that ruins nate's relationship with vanessa... and yeah hopefully if you watch the show youll know the rest... its a very big problem that they are facing
