friday night lights season 3 for people without direct tv?

I love friday night lights. i currently have Verizon Fios. is there anyway that i can watch season three of Friday Night Lights without having direct tv? will NBC eventually be airing it to the general public and when? is there an online website that will be posting new episodes? i cannot wait!

Episodes will first air on DirecTV's The 101 in the fall and then be rebroadcast on NBC in the winter.

The NBC website says that season 3 will begin airing in january 2009,and apparently the reason it's on directv 1st is because of low ratings...Ok, but here is the thing i don't understand. I live in central Texas, and it's true that Friday nights revolve around attending the football game. So why does NBC air the show ON Friday night? I love the show, but in the fall, i've only ever seen it because I recorded it on DVR. And I know many others that adore FNL, but no TV show will ever beat out the REAL thing on Friday nights!
