Why do people like Big Brother?

I am not trying to pick a fight, or start an argument, but I genuinely cannot understand why people watch this programme.Personally, I hate reality type TV.I don't understand why people watch other people sleeping for entertainment, can someone tell me?Why on earth is it interesting to watch grown adults do"challenges"in a house? Does it make it more"evil"if you can see someone on the toilet? Why would you want to? Even partially?People I know go on and on about it and it makes no difference to my mind if celebrities are on there, it is the lowest type of television.Can anyone tell me why it is so popular, without being insulting?As I say, I wasn't trying to start a fight or pick and argument, yes, I know it takes all sorts to make a world but this is a manufactured situation so not a true study of anything.The contestants are forced into unrealistic challenges which you simply would not do in real life, so it's not a true reflection of what people would do.You may call it snobbery, and, maybe it is, but I cannot understand the fascination.

People like to watch BigBrother because they find it amusing to watch random people shout/moan/get into realasionships/ suffer. My sister enjoys watching it but she justs drifts away from is because there is too much depressing stuff going on. Some people enjoy that though.

I believe that people need to see the negative aspects of another person in order to make themselves feel better. There are hurdles in life and as part of being human, we need to have confidence and hope in ourselves. Maybe that's why people enjoy thinking that..."maybe, I am better than that person!"hope that helped =)

I'm w/ you. My wife loves the show and I watch it w/ her occasionally and I just leave angry.The people they get (in the US version at least) are just simply lousy human beings. I can't care about who wins because more often than not I wish they could all lose.

Who knows. It is one of life's great mysteries. From my point of view it's as interesting as watching paint dry. Still that's life.

I don't know it's just fun to watch how people react to others and stuff. You don't see anyone on the toilet and I have no idea what that has to do with being evil. I like the drama and the fun ect. Everyone likes different things, it would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. Also if you want to think of it that way, it is a social study of how people react in different situations, ok I admit you wouldn't usually ice skate dressed as a hot dog for example (one of the tasks coming on CBB i saw on BBLB) in real life but the tasks about different situations (not necessarily real life ones) and have to be entertaining. Anyway you could do that if if you REALLY wanted to.
